NEW PLAYWRITING – contemporary theatre
The new playwriting season opens with Saudade e kebab (21.01), by the company La Petite Mort Theatre.
Davi, a Brazilian delivery driver far from his family, and Lea, who suffers from an eating disorder, each live their own loneliness. An overnight delivery will cause their destinies to cross, resulting in an encounter capable of relieving, if only for a moment, that inner emptiness.
Manicaretti (11.02), is a show by and with Marco Trotta and with Letizia Pia Cartolaro: a family noir in which reality and fiction mix, pushing a couple to the brink of the abyss. After their daughter is kidnapped, two parents find themselves overwhelmed by the media, suspicion and morbid curiosity: from talk shows to bookstores, their story becomes a public spectacle.
The duo Spaletta/Vicardi brings to our stage R3: le regole dell’ipnocrazia (04.03), a play that weaves together different artistic languages to talk about the fragility of the present. Theatre, stand-up, rap and video tell the story of Richard- a transposition of Shakespeare’s Richard III in the age of the algorithm – an ordinary 30-year-old trying to exist in a society hypnotized by power and digital illusions.
The company Colombo/Pace debuts with Lele (25.03): Gabriel, struggling with depression, meets Daphne, a mysterious figure who restores his joy of living. Lightness and poetry meet the theme of mental disorders, giving voice to those struggling to find their space in a society that runs too fast.
It’s then the turn of Il cantico dei burattini( (15.04), a show in which the company Teatro la Fuffa revolutionizes the famous Pinocchio fairy tale to tell a story that speaks to the present and to modern times. Pinocchio thus becomes a 30-year-old who finds himself immersed in a worn-out toyland, heir to an economic boom now unable to guarantee the same range of possibilities.
The new playwriting program draws to a close with Il nostro grido (06.05) by Ariele Celeste Soresina, a show that itells the journey of women who question imposed social roles, to awaken consciences and deconstruct prejudices, toward a more equitable and inclusive society.
All performances are followed by an open conversation with the artists and a risotto.
