"I PAESAGGI CHE CI ABITANO"

A participatory exhibition bridging memory and future

A journey to take together

The Foundation is preparing to leave its historic headquarters to begin a new phase at its future and permanent home in Breganzona. After many years, the Foundation is leaving a place that has been its home and that has helped make it what it is today.

When we leave a place, we don’t leave it completely behind. The places we inhabit continue to live on in our memories, in our relationships, in our experiences, and in the way we view the world around us. We are also shaped by the landscapes we have traversed. What we have experienced stays with us and influences the future we are able to imagine.

As we leave Càsoro, we don’t simply want to close one door and start over somewhere else. We want to acknowledge what we’re taking with us and use it as a starting point to imagine what lies ahead.

It is from this reflection that I paesaggi che ci abitano is born: a participatory exhibition through which we hope to build a bridge between the past and the future, between memory and vision.

What do we mean by “landscape”?

A landscape can be a natural setting, but it can also be a house, a room, a street, a sound, a voice, an atmosphere, an encounter, or a fragment of everyday life. It is everything that makes up our experience of a place; it leaves a mark and helps make us who we are.

It can be a real or inner landscape, individual or shared; it can belong to memory or to the imagination and the future we dream of.

TWO EXHIBITIONS

Our aim is to collect materials related to both the past and the future. The exhibition will, in fact, unfold in two interconnected phases:

  • The first, at the Via Càsoro location, will be the last public project hosted in this space and will be dedicated to the landscapes of the past: the places that shaped us, the experiences we cherish, and the traces that continue to accompany us;

  • The second, at the new location, will be dedicated to future scenarios: the places we imagine, what we desire, and what we dream of for the years to come.

Your contribution

We invite you to share a landscape that is meaningful to you, freely choosing whether to look to the past, the future, or both.

For the past, you can start with a memory that has left a mark on your life. The contribution, therefore, does not necessarily have to be connected to the Foundation.

As for the future, you can describe a landscape that doesn’t yet exist, a place you’d like to live, a space you imagine, a change you hope for, or something you dream of for yourself, your community, or your region.

How can I participate?

You can contribute photographs, drawings, collages, sketches, videos, written works, audio recordings, music, notes, hand-drawn maps, objects, posters, digital materials, or other forms of expression (whether your own or by other artists).

You can choose a material that you already own and have been keeping, or you can also create an original piece. What matters is the meaning it holds for you.

Please include a brief description with your submission (just a few lines will suffice).

Digital materials can be sent to info@fondazioneteatro.ch. Physical materials can be delivered to Via Càsoro 2, 6918 Lugano-Figino.

For each contribution, we also ask that you specify whether you would like your first and last name to appear in the exhibition or if you prefer to participate anonymously.

BY WHEN?

Materials may be mailed or delivered by October 9, 2026.
